Welfare / NSCSWP.

Under the terms of the Federal Government’s National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program (NSCSWP), our school is required to publish the following information:

  • This program enables Chum Creek Primary School to employ a Chaplain for two days per week. While their official title is ‘Chaplain’, the Chaplain’s work in our school is entirely welfare-based & focused, and strictly non-denominational. They do not conduct any religious instruction.
  • The aim of the Chaplain’s program is to provide welfare support for our students and their families.
  • Our Chaplain’s work complements the work done by our Primary Welfare Officer (PWO), and while the Chaplain’s position is funded by NSCSWP our PWO’s position is not.
  • Student and family involvement with our Chaplain is entirely voluntary.
  • Similarly, if parents or families would like to arrange for one-to-one sessions with the Chaplain they should notify the Principal.
  • Any complaints or concerns about the Chaplain or their Program should be communicated to the Principal so that the matter can be addressed in a timely manner.
  • Our Chaplain’s program reflects school community consultation via newsletter, School Council feedback and parents communicating directly with the school staff, the Chaplain and the Principal.
